Life Sketch and Achievements of Dada Guru Sh. Jindutt Suri Ji :
There goes a proverb “Coming events cast their shadows before”. A small boy named Somchandra born at Dholka in Gujarat generally accompanied his saintly mother, who used to go and listen religious discourse of learned Jain Sadhvi of khartargaccha sect. Observing the auspicious signs of brilliance on the forehead of boy Somchandra the nun requested his parents and sought their permission to accord him Muni Diksha, at the tender age of nine years in 1084 C.E. After according diksha by a senior jain monk of khartargaccha clan he was entrusted to Shri Sarva Dev gani to educate the newly dikshit young boy Somchandra. Once the young boy, quite ignorant of the rules of ascetic discipline uprooted a green plant in an open field. Guru Sarve Dev Gani was so much annoyed with this action of young muni Somchandra that he snatched away his mouth cloth (Muham Patti) and the woollen broom (Rajoharan) and ordered him to go back to his parental home. The clever Somchandra muni very humbly responded and agreed to return home provided his antenna like hair tail, which was pruned and removed from his head, by his guru in his diksha ceremony, was returned to him. This bold and intelligent reply of the brilliant boy Somchandra muni, so much impressed the guru, that he forgave his mistake with cautious warning, for future alertness, without questioning further.
Soon after receiving sufficient higher knowledge and learning Somchandra muni with his Guru and the group of monks, went on foot from villages to towns and various big cities of the country, preaching the principles of jainism.
In his logical effective discourse he appealed the people to attain and achieve higher moral values for the peaceful life in family, society and the nation. He directed them to adopt the principle of truth, nonviolence, respectful behaviour for elders, vegetarian diet and help the needy. He also advised people to avoid luxurious life, sensual pleasure, anger and envy for the attainment of peace and prosperity, and higher aims of life.
The growing reputation and fame of learned muni Somchand in the field of meditation, asceticism and piety, so much impressed Acharya Vallabh Suri ji, that he deemed Muni Somchand fit for next Acharyaship.
So when Acharya Shri Vallabh Suri ji passed away, the whole Khartargaccha community as per his wishes unanimously proposed the name of the most talented muni Sh. Somchand as his logical successor.
Finally in the year 1112 C.E. in a grand religious ceremony at Chittor the most talented deserving and genious muni Somchand was most joyfully awarded the supreme Status of Khartargacchacharya.
After assuming Acharya pad and leadership of Khartargaccha sect, he was popularly named and known as Khartargacchacharya Shri Jindutta Suri. After being adorned with Acharya Pad Shri Jindutta Suri ji then proceeded with his disciples towards marwar and then to Nagpur. for his religious mission. He not only protected the jain faith from the jealous opposers, but also taught and convinced them the real values of Jain principles even to the common masses of our country.
Dada Jindutta Suri ji with his selfless service, effective teachings, impressive and powerful way of discourse established a distinguished and unparalleled record of influencing one lakh thirty thousand non jains including many powerful Rajas and Maharajas of Rajput clan, to adopt jain principle of Ahimsa, nonviolence and truth in their life.
The prime ruler Maharaja Arunoraj of Ajmer, was a great admirer and devotee of Acharya Shri Jindutta Suri ji, who was allotted a large piece of land for the religious purposes to his Jain followers at Ajmer. Dada Jindutta Suri ji established 57 new Gotras of Oswal Jain Community.
